Sustainable Design
Kristina has been engaged in sustainable design practices
since her tenure at the University of Oregon when the architecture department
was in the forefront of passive solar energy research and its applicability
to the northwest environment.
Her portfolio includes passive solar homes in Bellingham, WA and in Hauser Lake, Idaho as well as several homes that were designed with a focus on healthy indoor environments. Whether or not the owner chooses to aggressively pursue alternative energy systems, all of the firm’s designs are sited to take advantage of solar orientation, natural ventilation, and daylighting. Additional features, as desired by the owner, may include heat absorbing floors and mass walls, radiant floor heating systems, passive solar water heating panels, and super insulated wall and roof framing.
If designing an environmentally responsible home is your focus, we have the resources to help you achieve that goal.
